We are a no go for the 2 editors Inn. They have a conferance in for the week we will be there.
On the bright we do have a meeting set up with the dean to discuss future tourneys and the involment of the College on thurs prior to the Tourney. They had offered to do some lunch or dinner this year back at the College. It does seem for future tourneys they will advertise it and give us lodging as long as we donate some type of funds. They need about 6 - 8 months in advance....

After talking with Jon G we like the idea of raising some money for both the tourney and the college. We thought the best way to do this was to sell 50 50 tickets that Jon would have printed up. Were hoping that we can mail out 20 tickets to 10 people for 20 a pop for you to sell. So 4 grand would be raised 2000 to winner of the 50 50 and 1000 to the College as a donation for the right to stay at the 2 editors inn and 1000 to our tourney for pries and to cover Jons outlay in printing and materials...So basically do you think you can sell 20 tickets for 20 bucks...Jon is checking with his accountant to see if they can write a check to the GMC open for tax reasons if Jon can set that up.....Thoughts... Since LSC has a tourney that entire weekend, here is what we suggest, keeping in mind, this is saying that everyone will be in town THUR nite.
FRI, AUG 7 - Lake St Catherine
(approx 11am for 1st T-time)
SAT, AUG 8 - Rutland CC (approx 1 pm for 1st T-time)
SAT, AUG 8th - Awards dinner and libations (RCC has a good bar and menu) (approx 5:30 pm end of rounds)
SUN, AUG 9 - Optional round where ever if anyone wants to play, I am in!
I know some who might have traveled far to attend will want the day to travel.

I love how this year’s tourney is taking shape this early in the season, FANTASTIC boyz.
A couple of things:
We need figure out a way to make the scoring fair if someone can't play on Friday but will show up for Saturday’s 36 holes, especially if we switch course etc… Maybe we should just give the prestigious trophy to the best average for the weekend.
Where should we play? I guess Fridays play will be at LSCC but Saturday is still open. Please lets not play a crap course though. I recently got a house near Okemo Valley Golf Course and we could play there. It looks nice but I have never played the course. Thoughts?
Facebook. I got an email from JJ about adding a page on Facebook for this years tourney. We need someone to volunteer to get cranking on this since I hate FB. I think JJ is the perfect guy for this?
Update the website. JEG could you please post the new dates on the website. I also wonder if there is anyway you could add a sign up tab on the website. This tab basically signs you up for the event plus commits you to this fantastic weekend even though people will put crap there.

There is now less then 2 weeks before we T-OFF the 4th straight Green Mountain Open. By the posting it looks like we will have a record amount of players, both new and old participants. It is also nice to see more people actually involved in making this tourney even better. Even though it is hard to predict the outcome of 2008 edition of GMO, one thing is certain; we will have a new Champion this year. Finally!!!
On a more serious note and I don't want to sound bitter…. but after dealing with a bunch of geezers at certain educational institutions and country clubs. I cannot get over how certain people, businesses or institutions actually mange their life, organizations or subordinates. I personally always though logic prevails have been proven wrong. | BIT OF A PROBLEM-- EVERYONE PLEASE READ THIS!
Called today to solidify Tee Times for 16th/17th based on current participants. We are booked for 8:00,8:10,8:20,8:30 on Saturday but Sunday there is a problem and here are the options. When I wanted to book Sunday AM for the same Tee Times as Saturday they claimed they cant allow it because there is a Tourny being played in the AM!( Its not on the LSCC site so WTF!) So our options are this: On Sunday the earlist we can get a Tee Time as a group this big is 2:30PM. (I had her pencil us in) Now I am well aware that this scenario is not the best as the bulk of you are traveling from out of state and after 4 plus hours of golf that means you cats dont get home until 10pm/11PM and thats not cool. Or maybe you guys dont care, just thinking of you here. I asked her to let me know that if she can accomadate an earlier Tee Time on Sunday to call me immediately. I guess my question here is that I thought we had these dates blocked out for us? Or was that not the case? Second option if we dont want to do the above is possibly look at Prospect Bay on Bomoseen for Sunday. Its no St. Catherine but its close and might be the only other option.
OR as a last resort we bang out the GMO on Saturday. Yes that means 36 holes of golf in one day, and I already asked her if we could do that and she said yes. She also offerid to give us group rates on Golf/Food which I may follow up on to see if the price per person is cheaper than going at it individually. It seems half the battle here is that they dont except Tee Times more than a week in advance. She made an exception here with us as our group is big. So lets chime in as to how everyone feels about the above and we can work out the details this week.

Ray, how is the roster looking for the upcoming season?
Anyway, I would like to ask you for a huge favor. As you probably know we have put together an annual GMC alumnae golf tournament in Poultney.
This year is the 4th straight year for this prestigious tournament and will as usual be played at Lake St. Catherine Country Club. The dates
are set for August 16th and 17th and I wanted to see if you have any pull in reserving beds at Two Editors Inn. I am going to ask anyone staying for the two nights making a $100 donation straight to the soccer
program at Green Mountain, without any exception. I will also take full responsibility leaving the place in the same shape it was when we got
there. We are looking for housing for the night of 15th and 16th. Please let me know if any of you can help?

Including but not limited to driving over his ball with a cart, coughing in his backswing and tossing, not throwing, spare golf balls near his feet during his swing." This rule was voted on by the GMO Commitee in November of 2007 and, if ratified, will take effect during this year's tournament, thus ensuring that you will again be the "Original Hacker".

| Set up and Scoring for GMO:
Normally the GMO Commitee will establish the pairings for each 4-some that tees off on Saturday. Accomodations are made for those requesting to play with certain people, but not all requests can be met. (Basically don't get pissed if you're playing with The Swede)
So day one is more or less a draw for pairings.
Day two pairings are a bit more complex and since my worst grades at GMC were in math I will try to explain the basics. (Swede knows it all)
Basically all of the scores are taken in and using the slope/rating a differential of the scores is found. Using this differential the number of strokes Sully gets will vary greatly vs. the number of strokes Eder with get and etc. I has worked in the past, so long as someone doesn't sandbag the first day and then shoot 81 on the second day. Again, GMO Committee has the right, AND THE DUTY, to determine any sandbagger play. BE WARNED.
I'm sure I messed that up so here is the Swede to explain it. . .

A little over 2 weeks until GMO and a few things should be settled this week. 1) Lets get a FINAL # on participants by Friday, August 1st as the list below may or may not have changed. This should give us a clear communication with the Pro Shop as to # of Tee Times for each day and where they can put us on each day. If Im not mistaken there is some type of Tourny on Sunday at 3ish or so.
2) What do you guys think about a Mulligan Pot? Here what Im thinking: For the economical price of somewhere between $15-$20 (we can raise/lower this figure after some more input) your team can buy 5 Mulligans to be used on Saturday's game. That money raised can go to the cost of burger/beer or sandwhich/beer or whatever after the rounds on Saturday as we all sit around and tally final scores that day. (Typically that is what has happened for you newbies) If you dont want to put in then you can be on your own for Food/Beer AND you dont get any mulligans for the team. Its up to you. The way I look at Sandwhich =$6 Beer =$5 so after tip and such your looking at $14/15 anyway. So lets chime in on a Final # and tell me what you think about the Mulligan dealio.

| Well gentlemen, I just returned from Long Island. While in LI I had a chance to play a round on Bethpage Black, the home of the 2002 and next years 2009 US Open with defending champion Tiger Woods. Anyway, it was an amazing course to say the least. More sand than ALL the beaches in Miami, rough that almost broke my wrist on a few occasions. BUT most importantly - I shot PAR on 7 of the 18 holes! Played from the whites of course (73.9/140)....two triples, because of some crappy sand shots and walked off the course with a 92. What a day! Dear Players,
The dates for 2008 GMO are officially set for August 16 & 17. Unless two or more alums, requests a formal date change prior to Noon May 31, the 4th annual open will be played on the official dates set.
PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR A DATE CHANGE is NOON MAY 31. The alternative dates will be the first weekend in September unless more appropriate dates are being discussed.
If you and fellow alum cannot make the official dates but can participate on the alternative dates please let the board prior to the cut off.

| Re: Updated Format and changes to the 2008 open
We are please to invite family and friends to the 4th edition of the Green Mountain Open. The board decided on May 5th to expand the 2008 event to make it bigger and hopefully better. This year’s tournament will include (a few) drinks and appetizers in the clubhouse after the first day of play as well as our first cash price. The board is also extremely proud to present the $350 cash price to the winner of this prestigious tournament presented by JEG Design, our first official sponsor. The lowest score will claim the cash price regardless of alma mater and will include an official USGA handicap adjustment if necessary. In other words, if any of our commendable alums try to bring in a ringer and the GMO board suspects foul play we will go straight to an official handicap system.
Furthermore, the board still feels the need to maintain the GMO legacy and will therefore maintain the format of the original tournament and the rules established in 2005. The official GMO victory can only be captured by alumni player and will guarantee the trophy will remain part of our amazing legacy.
Please post committed players ASAP so we can add t-times.
PS: The board will consider rescheduling the event to the weekend of September 7 & 8, but only if 2 or more alumni’s have a conflict for the dates set for August.

I have booked 5 successive foursomes (ambitious?) starting at 10:30 AM on Saturday August 16 and 9:00 AM Sunday August 17. Since we have some time on our hand we can also add more t-times if we need. Our goal this year should be to make 2008 edition of GMO the biggest ever. A reasonable goal this year should be 30 people and we should consider opening this event up for family and friends. Your thoughts here are appreciated?
Anyway, here is the list of the folks who have committed. Please let me know if you have any family or friends who wants to play (and are willing to commit) or if you are on the list below and cannot make these dates. JEG also talked about making a donation for price money for this year’s GMO (JEG, please correct me if I am wrong here) How about sponsoring an event in the clubhouse on Saturday? I am not exactly sure when, mostly because I am not sure how long it will take to finish the current project.

| If my calculations are correct, I think JEG and Christoffer only lost by 2 total strokes. 1 on Sat and 1 on Sunday, both scores adjusted on both days.
Day one score: 89 - 67.3(course rating), multiply that by 113, divide that by 118 (Slope), multiply that by .96 and you get your handicap for the day. It is five strokes higher than my handicap, they get five strokes that day.
Sunday score: 90, their handicap is 20 for the day, mine was 19, they get one stroke.

| First of, thank you all for participating. A fantastic turnout this year and wow for a newly established tournament we sure have many highlights. Plus a kick @$$ website....
This 3rd annual GMO became exactly everything Fitz and I was hoping for when we first started to play with the idea of a golf tournament. We certainly hope you all enjoy these two days as much we do. Before mentioning this years HIGHLIGHT, I wanted to point out we added some new faces and some new VERY high scores. I have to point out that the Hacker of the Year award is almost as prestigious as winning the open itself - shooting a 71 on the front 9 nine is a true accomplishment. If we actually add a swing stat to the GMO, the Hacker of the year has an astonishing 550 plus swings over 2 days including putts of course (142 strokes per day + 142 practice swings per day) in competition is AMAZING.
We were also all part of some fantastic jokes this weekend, in one way or the other. One joke many of us missed was between Bojan and Barry on the 14th hole. Bojan: " I though my golf cart had it rough with Heim in it", watching Fitz and myself barely making it up the steep cart path.
Still the highlight of 2007 GMO was when Johnny (aka Mr.Brown) hit the hole in one on the 8th hole. Never have so many of us GMC alums together witnessed such a smooth and perfect swing yielding the ultimate reward in golf, a hole in one. And never have so many of us GMC alums together missed the ultimate joke as when the lady on the 2nd t-box comes running screaming " holy shiiiitttt did the UPS guy just hit a hole in one.....?" Who is better then you Jon?
